Its headquarters are at Tyre Fort in Birmingham, a stone's throw from the original Fort Dunlop, the one time global headquarters of the Dunlop Tyre Company. Of all the tyre company's in the world, it could be said that Dunlop, being founded by the claimed innovator of the pneumatic tyre, John Boyd Dunlop, has the greatest corporate experience in the world. Certainly, the brand has a long history that has taken it into almost every area of rubber production imaginable. Today Dunlop tyres enjoy the benefits of a long tradition of evolving with the motor car. The company also boasts perhaps the world's largest dedicated motorsport division, supplying thousands of tyres every week to global motorsport events from its base at Tyre Fort. Additionally, Dunlop's heritage being typically British, no-one ever discarded anything that might come in useful, and the company retained many of the tyre moulds from its past production. The upshot of this is that today Dunlop is the world's largest supplier of tyres to the classic and vintage tyre market. With the combined research facilities of Goodyear and Dunlop, the brand is once again at the cutting edge of tyre technology. At one end of the scale it supplies tyres for the family saloon, through to 4X4's and SUV's, and at the other end it is leading the way on the racetrack too.
